These Shiai Naginata are crafted in Miyakonojo, Kyushu, the historic center of Japanese wooden weapon production. Made exclusively from locally sourced materials by the skilled artisans of the Aramaki workshop, each piece is a fine example of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
Specifically designed for naginata shiai, all models conform to the equipment regulations set by the All Japan Naginata Federation. The e-bu (shaft) is available in either Japanese Red Oak or Japanese White Oak, finished with oil or varnish respectively. This is paired with a ha-bu (blade section) constructed from specially prepared, spring-tempered bamboo slats. The two components are securely joined using white vinyl tape.
Standard length is approximately 220 cm, with around 50 cm allocated to the blade section, creating a well-balanced feel suitable for most practitioners. For taller users, an extra-long White Oak model is available at approximately 225 cm, recommended for practitioners 175 cm and above.
**All naginatas are produced upon order. Production time is 3-4 months.
Please note: As this product is made from natural wood, variations in grain pattern and color may occur.
