Premium Japanese Asada Wood Jo
Crafted in Japan from carefully selected Asada wood (Japanese Hop-Hornbeam), this premium 4.21 shaku Jo offers exceptional strength, durability, and a refined feel for serious martial arts training.
Asada is a dense Japanese hardwood traditionally prized for its outstanding hardness, resilience, and resistance to impact. Sometimes referred to as “iron wood” in Japan, its dense structure produces an exceptionally smooth surface that is less prone to splintering and roughness, even with regular use.
The fine, stable grain and excellent shock resistance of Asada make this Jo particularly well suited for Aikido, Jodo, paired kata, and traditional Japanese martial arts training. Its combination of durability and smooth handling provides the reliability needed for repeated contact while maintaining a clean, refined finish.
At 4.21 shaku (approximately 127.6 cm) in length, this Japanese Jo is available in two diameters to accommodate different training preferences.
