About Niten Ichi Ryu
Founded by the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, Niten Ichi Ryu is renowned for its two-sword style, Niten Ichi (“two heavens as one”). This dynamic approach uses both the long and short sword in seamless, unpredictable combinations, showcasing Musashi’s mastery and innovation.
Training in this style sharpens coordination, speed, and awareness. The bokken design itself traces back to Musashi’s own wooden sword, which he carried even in his later years and is still preserved at Usa Jingu Shrine in Oita Prefecture.
