KOKUBU – 3mm All Deer Leather Bogu Set
The ever-evolving Alpha series welcomes a distinguished new model.
KOKUBU is a lightweight yet highly practical bogu set that combines commanding presence with exceptional functionality—crafted for kendoka who refuse to compromise on quality.
The deep Kodaimurasaki (ancient purple) stitching, inherited from the KOKUBU model, evokes the elegance of traditional tezashi bogu, lending the set a refined and luxurious appearance.
The core padding has been precisely calibrated in both thickness and softness to complement the 3 mm stitching, achieving an ideal balance of flexibility and resilience.
Despite its slim and lightweight futon construction, the bogu maintains excellent structure and firmness—successfully uniting two seemingly opposing qualities: suppleness and crisp form.
Whether for shiai or shinsa, this set offers dependable support, allowing you to perform at your very best on the most demanding stages.
Every detail has been meticulously refined, delivering comfort and usability that far exceed expectations.
MEN
The Men features a dignified and refined appearance, combining clean 3 mm stitching with the rich texture of konkawa (deer leather), resulting in a harmonious and elegant finish. Deer leather is also used on the ago and herikawa, unifying the overall design.
The futon is thin yet firm, and the menbuchi is finished with stitching as fine as that seen in tezashi bogu, preventing wrinkles and maintaining a crisp silhouette.
A titanium mengane provides a distinctive luster, while the urushi-lacquered menbuchi further enhances the Men’s stately presence.
The uchiwa is lined with soft, absorbent cotton that is gentle on the skin and naturally conforms to the face. With continued use, the fit improves, offering excellent stability and comfort.
Nanamezashi stitching on the mendare promotes natural shaping and reduces strain during the swinging, making it suitable for both training and competition.

KOTE
Each pair of Kote is carefully crafted to provide an exceptional fit from the very first wear. The kote-gashira is filled with deer hair (shikake), which gradually molds to your hands over time, creating a truly personalized fit.
A traditional two-line decorative design on the kote-gashira delivers a classic aesthetic, while the full konkawa finish adds a dignified and substantial feel.
The tenouchi is made from white ultrasuede, offering an excellent balance of thinness and durability for a natural grip and precise shinai control.
Like the Men, the specially layered shinzai core achieves an unprecedented balance of mobility, lightness, and protection—reliably absorbing strong strikes while maintaining an agile, nearly weightless feel.
