UNZEI - Original Kote by Budogu Zen
UNZEI - Original Kote by Budogu Zen
This kote is custom made by our Japanese Craftsman, Kazuki Unzei.
The Difference in Shape makes this Kote Special:
The shape of right and left hands are designed differently.
Right hand is designed to not over grip your shinai by the shape allowing you to hold your shinai properly from the beginning.
Left hand is designed to be able to hold your shinai firmly.
The hands fitting deeper than the usual kote is the unique feature of this kote.
The back of hands stick to the kote perfectly, and you can fully wrap your fingers around your shinai comfortably.
Material:
This kote intentionally uses deer leather and deer fir to maximize the comfortableness.
Deer fir shapes themselves and molds into your hands as you receive the strikes.
Where its supposed to bend will bend properly, while there's a proper protection for your knuckle.
The highest grade deer leather, White Deer Leather - Koto, is used for tenouchi (palm).
This material is very valuable as only three palms worth of leather can be produced from one deer.
The fine texture gives the feeling of tenouchi "sticking" to your hands.
You can hold your shinai naturally as if you're holding it barehand.
As the result of pursuing the funcitonality, the design became simple.
Although the design is simple, this kote incorporates commitment, ingenuity, and technology to maximize your performance.
Production Period: 8~10 Months.
